It’s not what you think it is. But you may end up liking it at the end of this blog post.

It’s my version of WTF – witholding the future. We are all unique, created with different talents, skills and capabilities – who knows what we are all capable of. But we won’t know unless we explore, take risks or simply accept the fact.

We all love receiving gifts. I remember the gift my wife gave me two years ago for my birthday – a Swatch watch wrapped in a small box. I didn’t have any idea at all until she asked me to open it. It brought tears in my eyes because it reminded me of the very first Swatch watch I had when I was 8 years old. I looked silly wiping my tears behind the steering wheel as people walked by seeing me do this. But it was a moment I won’t forget as I put on my new watch. I doubt I’d have that experience if I didn’t open the box in the first place.

Most of the time, we’re stuck with where we are right now. We still have that dream that we held on to ever since we were a kid. We wish, we hope, we sigh. Reality kicks in and slowly drowning the dream inside. We think to ourselves, “If only we were smarter, more skillful, more creative and more productive, then, maybe…”

Maybe you should just start with opening the box. You have my permission to do so. The gift has already been given to you. You’ve had it all along. Don’t let the lid on the box withhold your future. You might end up achieving your dream after all. And I believe that’ll be a moment you’ll never forget.
